Earlier this month, industry insiders suggested that Apple may be releasing a new iPhone model in the near future, and now more information regarding the device has surfaced.
Expected to be a successor to the iPhone SE from 2016, its designed to be a more affordable option, meaning a lower starting price at around $399 USD — same as the original SE — according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Of course, this naturally also means lower specs. Rumors say that unlike the current top range models, the iPhone 9 may come with a 4.7-inch LCD screen instead of an OLED display and bring back Touch ID with the home button. It will be equipped with a single rear camera with a 12-megapixel sensor, and support NFC tag scanning, a feature currently only available to the iPhone XR, XS and 11. As for its internal components, it’s said to carry an A13 processor and 3GB of RAM much like the ones used in the iPhone 11 series, and come in three storage options: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
As of now the new iPhone model is rumored to release April 15, with shipment scheduled for April 22. Stay tuned as more updates roll in.
