Introducing #NBATogether, a global community and social engagement campaign that aims to support, engage, educate and inspire youth, families and fans in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affecting everyone’s way of life, the NBA is utilizing its broad digital footprint to launch the “NBA Together” campaign. Billed as “a global community and social engagement campaign that aims to support, engage, educate and inspire youth, families and fans in response to the coronavirus pandemic,” the project’s four cornerstones — “Know the Facts, Acts of Caring, Expand Your Community” and “NBA Together Live” — aims to spread the latest global health and safety information, along with guidelines and resources that will help people and communities socially connected.
In addition, the league will contribute and help raise over $50 million USD to help those affected by COVID-19, along with support for the community and healthcare organizations offering essential services all around the world.
For the campaign’s “Know the Facts” initiative, the NBA launched its Coronavirus Information For NBA Fans webpage to keep people updated with the most recent updates in their area, along with information that will help them protect themselves from the virus. Meanwhile, the league’s “Acts of Caring” scheme highlights the power of community and volunteerism by motivating players, fans and the general public to share how they are supporting others using the hashtag #NBATogether. The “Expand Your Community” measure encourages fans to remain physically and mentally healthy and active and includes the launch of the interactive content series, JR. NBA at Home. Lastly, the “NBA Together Live” initiative will allow fans to interact with a member of the NBA family through live interviews with the NBA broadcast talent or taking fan questions on Instagram live. Classic games will also be streamed on the league’s social platforms including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.
